Birmingham Civil Rights Tour

We'll meet at 9:45 am in front of the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute to start this tour. The focus will be on the civil rights struggle for black people in Alabama.

We'll spend 3 hours reviewing important milestones in Birmingham's history. The tour will cover the founding of the Alabama Christian Human Rights Movement, the role of the Ku Klux Klan, and the establishment of organizations fighting for rights in Alabama's largest city.

Throughout the tour, we will discuss politician Bull Connor and activist Fred Shuttlesworth, a key figure in opposing racial segregation in Birmingham.

The tour will conclude at the meeting point at 12:45 pm.
