Birmingham Civil Rights Tour
We'll meet at 9:45 am in front of the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute to start the tour focused on the struggle for fundamental rights for black people in Alabama. The duration of the tour is 3 hours.
During the tour, we will review significant milestones in Birmingham's history. Topics include the founding of the Alabama Christian Human Rights Movement, the role of the Ku Klux Klan, and the establishment of various organizations that advocated for rights in Alabama's largest city.
We will also discuss key figures such as politician Bull Connor and minister and activist Fred Shuttlesworth, who was instrumental in the fight against racial segregation in Birmingham.
The tour concludes at the initial meeting point at 12:45 pm after exploring the streets where protesters marched.
