Birmingham Civil Rights Tour

We'll meet at 9:45 am in front of the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute to start this tour focused on the struggle for fundamental rights for black people in Alabama.

The tour will last 3 hours, during which we will review important milestones in Birmingham's history. Topics include the founding of the Alabama Christian Human Rights Movement, the role of the Ku Klux Klan, and the establishment of various organizations advocating for power, control, and destiny in the city.

We will also discuss key figures such as politician Bull Connor and minister Fred Shuttlesworth, a prominent activist against racial segregation in Birmingham.

After walking the streets where the movement's protesters once marched, we will return to the meeting point, concluding the tour at 12:45 pm.
