We'll meet at 9:45 am in front of the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute to start this tour focused on the civil rights struggle for black individuals in Alabama.
The tour lasts 3 hours, during which we will review significant milestones in Birmingham's history. Topics include the founding of the Alabama Christian Human Rights Movement, the role of the Ku Klux Klan, and the establishment of various organizations advocating for rights and autonomy in Alabama's largest city.
We will also discuss key figures such as politician Bull Connor and activist Fred Shuttlesworth, a leading voice against racial segregation in Birmingham.
After exploring the streets where protesters marched, the tour concludes at 12:45 pm at the meeting point.
