On this free tour of La Candelaria, we'll explore the origins of Colombia while touring the iconic streets of Bogotá and its colonial architecture.
Tour Details
The tour begins at the scheduled time from the Plaza del Chorro de Quevedo, the site of Bogotá's founding in 1538. After learning about this event, we'll head to the Plaza del Mercado de La Concordia for a tasting of exotic Colombian fruits.
Continuing along the cobblestone streets of La Candelaria, we will admire colonial houses with wooden balconies and stop at the Parque de los Periodistas, a popular meeting point. Nearby, we will pass the Plaza Santander, the Museum of Gold, and the Banco de la República.
Next, we will discuss El Bogotazo and its consequences, followed by a visit to Plaza de Bolívar. In the political heart of Bogotá, we will see the Metropolitan Cathedral Basilica of Bogotá, the National Capitol of Colombia, the Palace of Justice of Colombia, and the Alcaldía Mayor (Mayor's Office) from outside.
The tour concludes after approximately 3 hours at a café near the palace, where we can enjoy authentic Colombian coffee prepared by a barista.
