On this free tour of La Candelaría, we'll discover the origins of Colombia while exploring this area of Bogotá and its colonial architecture.

Tour Details

We will meet at the intersection of Carrera 7 and Calle 11. The tour will begin in the historic neighbourhood of La Candelaría, known for its foundation in 1538.

During the walk along the cobblestone streets, we will discuss the cultural heritage and architecture of the area and the stories behind the street names.

The tour will include visits to major museums in Bogotá, such as the Museum of Independence - Casa del Florero and the House of Manuelita Sáenz, which highlights Colombia's independence.

We will proceed to Bolívar Square and Calle 10 of La Candelaria, showcasing attractions like the Iglesia de San Ignacio de Loyola, San Carlos Palace, Fundación Casa Rafael Pombo, and the Museo Militar.

Next, we will visit the Museo de la Moneda, home to the Numismatic Collection of the Bank of the Republic since 1996, and the historical Plazoleta del Rosario, formerly known as Plaza de San Francisco.

Our final stop will be the Monument to Policarpa Salavarrieta, a heroine of Colombian independence. The tour will conclude at the Chorro de Quevedo after 3.5 hours.
