Built in the 16th century by order of Cardinal Charles Borromeo, the Archiginnasio was the seat of the University of Bologna. When you enter the courtyard, you'll notice the large number of coats of arms painted on its walls, corresponding to over 7,000 surnames of students who studied there.

With your English audioguide, you'll discover curiosities about the building while visiting the cloister and its notable rooms: the Anatomical Theater and the Stabat Mater room.
