Guided Tour of the São Mateus Cave

At the scheduled time, we'll meet at the entrance to the São Mateus cave, located 3.5 km (2.2 miles) from the center of Bonito.

Before entering the cave, we will tour the Museum of Cultural History, where we will see artifacts from the ancient inhabitants known as the Kadiwéu. We will discuss the indigenous peoples of Brazil and the local flora and fauna of Mato Grosso do Sul.

After the museum visit, we will take a short walk to the access point of the São Mateus grotto. You will be impressed by the cave's beauty and its rock formations, including a stalagmite resembling the Tower of Pisa.

We will explore this underground world and learn about speleothems, the discovery of the São Mateus cave, and the potential size of stalagmites.

After an hour and a half of exploration, we will return to the starting point.
