If there is one region of France synonymous with fine wines, it is Bordeaux. Visit the city with a tour designed by a trained sommelier, discovering the secrets of the region's most famous product.

Wine Tour Details

Learn about the art of wine tasting and the wine itself as you explore the UNESCO World Heritage streets of the center. The Bordeaux region is a significant wine-producing area, with over 50 "Appellation d'origine contrôlées" (protected designation of origin). The right bank of the Garonne river mainly produces Merlot, while the left focuses on Cabernet Sauvignon, with eight "Appellation d'origine contrôlées" covering the Gironde region.

Your expert guide will meet you outside the tram station for a day of tasting. You will try four specially chosen wines: two reds, two whites, and one sweet, each paired with cheese. Your guide emphasizes the importance of your nose in wine appreciation—some sommeliers even insure their noses for substantial amounts!

Bordeaux wine has a long history, from its introduction by the Romans around 43 AD to significant events like the 12th-century marriage of Henry Plantagenet and Aliénor d’Aquitaine, leading to its international recognition. By the end of the day, you will be more expert in the wines of Bordeaux and their storied history, ready to impress at your next dinner party!
