Wine Tour Details
Learn about the art of wine tasting as much as the wine itself, as you are taken through the UNESCO World Heritage streets of the centre. Bordeaux region is perhaps the world's most important wine-producing region, with over 50 "Appellation d'origine contrôlées" (protected designation of origin). The right bank of the Garonne river produces, principally Merlot, while on the left Cabernet Sauvignon is more common - and there are eight "Appellation d'origine contrôlées" that cover the entire Gironde region.
To demystify this special wine, you'll meet your expert guide outside the tram station and set off on an unforgettable day where your palate will be tested. You'll try four specially chosen wines: two reds, two whites, and one sweet. Each of these ecological Bordeaux wines will be paired with cheese. Your guide will emphasize that your nose is just as important to the appreciation of good wine as your mouth.
Bordeaux wine has a long history, from its introduction by the Romans around 43 AD to the 12th-century marriage of Henry Plantagenet and Aliénor d’Aquitaine, which marked the beginning of its international recognition. By the end of the day, you'll be more knowledgeable about the wines of Bordeaux and their storied history.
