Wine Tour Details
Learn about the art of wine tasting as much as the wine itself, as you are taken through the UNESCO World Heritage streets of the centre. Bordeaux is one of the world's most important wine-producing regions, with over 50 "Appellation d'origine contrôlées" (protected designation of origin). The right bank of the Garonne river primarily produces Merlot, while on the left Cabernet Sauvignon is more common, covering eight "Appellation d'origine contrôlées" in the Gironde region.
To demystify these wines, you'll meet your expert guide outside the tram station and set off on an unforgettable day, testing your palate with four specially chosen wines: two reds, two whites, and one sweet. Each ecological Bordeaux wine will be paired with cheese. Your guide will emphasize the importance of your nose in the appreciation of good wine, as some sommeliers have their noses insured for millions.
Bordeaux wine has a long history, from its introduction by the Romans around 43 AD, to the exportation to England initiated by the 12th-century marriage of Henry Plantagenet and Aliénor d’Aquitaine. By the end of the day, you'll be more expert in the wines of Bordeaux and their storied history, sure to impress at your next dinner party!
