Wine Tour Details

Learn about the art of wine tasting while exploring the UNESCO World Heritage streets of the city. The Bordeaux region is a leading wine-producing area, with over 50 "Appellation d'origine contrôlées" (protected designation of origin). The right bank of the Garonne river primarily produces Merlot, whereas the left bank is known for Cabernet Sauvignon, with eight "Appellation d'origine contrôlées" covering the Gironde region.

To demystify Bordeaux wines, you will meet your expert guide outside the tram station and embark on a day where your palate will be challenged. You will sample four selected wines: two reds, two whites, and one sweet, all ecological Bordeaux wines paired with cheese. Your guide will emphasize that your nose is crucial for wine appreciation, as some sommeliers have insured their noses for significant sums.

Bordeaux wine has a rich history dating back to 43 AD with Roman introduction, gaining international recognition after the 12th-century marriage of Henry Plantagenet and Aliénor d’Aquitaine. By the end of the day, you will become more knowledgeable about Bordeaux wines and their storied history, ready to impress at your next dinner gathering!
