Why Visit the Bassins des Lumiéres?

Les Bassins des Lumières is a unique, interactive art gallery located in Bordeaux's former submarine base. Since its opening in summer 1999, it features large digital exhibitions dedicated to notable artists, contemporary creations, and themes like the conquest of space in comic strips. It is also known as the largest digital art centre in the world.

Inside, you will find 4 expansive basins with continuous digital and immersive exhibitions:

The Immersive Citerne: a 155 m² (1,668 sq ft) area with 7 m (23 ft) ceilings, providing space to lie or sit for a unique view. The Cube: a 220 m² (2,368 sq ft), 8 m (26 ft) high area for contemporary immersive artists, including parallel exhibitions by digital artists.Large Mooring Buoys: visuals from temporary exhibitions projected onto water. The Base Museum: explore the history of the submarine base.

You can spend as much or as little time at Les Bassins as preferred, but typically visitors take about an hour for the exhibitions.
