Why Visit the Bassins des Lumiéres?

Make your way to Les Bassins des Lumières, an interactive art gallery located in Bordeaux's former submarine base. Opened in 1999, Les Bassins des Lumières features large immersive digital exhibitions dedicated to art history, contemporary creations, and major themes. It is the largest digital art centre in the world.

Inside Les Bassins, there are 4 massive basins with a continuous cycle of exhibitions:

The Immersive Citerne: 155 m² (1,668 ft²) with 7 m (23 ft) high ceilings.The Cube: 220 m² (2,368 ft²) space dedicated to contemporary artists.Large Mooring Buoys: projections of images from temporary exhibitions onto water.The Base Museum: explore the history of the submarine base.

Typically, it takes around one hour to experience the exhibitions.
