Why Visit the Bassins des Lumiéres?
Make your way to Les Bassins des Lumières, a unique, interactive art gallery located in Bordeaux's former submarine base. Opened in the summer of 1999, it features huge immersive digital exhibitions dedicated to great artists of art history, contemporary creations, and current themes. Les Bassins is also the largest digital art centre in the world.
Within Les Bassins, there are 4 massive basins:
The Immersive Citerne: a 155 m² (1,668 sq ft) space with 7 m (23 ft) high ceilings.The Cube: a 220 m² (2,368 sq ft), 8 m (26 ft) high space for contemporary immersive art.Large Mooring Buoys: images from temporary exhibitions projected onto water.The Base Museum: explore the history of the old submarine base.
Typically, it takes around an hour to experience the exhibitions.
Temporary Exhibitions
Currently, you can visit the following exhibitions:
L'Égypte des Pharaons: de Khéops à Ramsès II
This exhibition focuses on the civilization of Ancient Egypt, exploring secrets of Lower and Upper Egypt during the pharaohs' time.
Les Orientalistes: Ingres, Delacroix, Gérôme...
This exhibition showcases 19th-century works inspired by travels and accounts of lands like Morocco, Algeria, and Egypt.

Please note that this ticket will not give you access to the temporary exhibition of The Little Prince, which runs from July 4 to August 27, 2025.
