Why Visit the Bassins des Lumières?

Make your way to Les Bassins des Lumières to enter this unique, interactive art gallery located in Bordeaux's former submarine base. Opened in the summer of 1999, Les Bassins des Lumières showcases huge immersive digital exhibitions dedicated to great artists, contemporary creations, and major themes, including the conquest of space in comic strips. Les Bassins is also the largest digital art center in the world.

Within Les Bassins, you will find 4 massive areas with a continuous cycle of digital exhibitions:

The Immersive Citerne: a 155 square metre space with 7-metre high ceilings.The Cube: a 220 square metre space dedicated to contemporary immersive artists.Large Mooring Buoys: images from temporary exhibitions projected onto the water.The Base Museum: exhibition on the history of the old submarine base.

It usually takes around an hour to explore the exhibitions.

L'Égypte des Pharaons: de Khéops à Ramsès II
