Reasons to Explore Les Bassins des Lumières

Head over to Les Bassins des Lumières, a distinctive interactive art gallery housed in a former submarine base in Bordeaux. Since its inaugural summer in 1999, this venue has showcased expansive, immersive digital exhibitions celebrating both historical and contemporary artists, along with explorations of significant themes such as space exploration and comic art. Notably, it boasts the title of the largest digital art center worldwide, enhancing any visit.

Inside Les Bassins, visitors can explore four expansive basins, each featuring a constantly rotating series of digital and immersive exhibitions:

The Immersive Citerne: Spanning 155 square meters (1,668 square feet) and reaching 7 meters (23 feet) in height, this area invites you to either recline or sit for a unique perspective on the displayed art.The Cube: An 8-meter (26-foot) high space that covers 220 square meters (2,368 square feet), dedicated to contemporary immersive art, showcasing both emerging and established digital creators alongside a parallel exhibition.Large Mooring Buoys: Enjoy projections from temporary exhibitions artfully cast onto the surface of the water. The Base Museum: Delve into the intriguing history of the submarine base and discover its remarkable past.

You can choose to spend your time as you wish within Les Bassins, but typically visitors allocate about an hour to appreciate the exhibitions fully.
