You'll be able to explore this fascinating monastic complex that was built at the beginning of the 16th century by order of Margarita of Austria, the Duchess of Savoy. The Royal Monastery of Brou complex consists of several monastic buildings located around three magnificent cloisters and a church, which is unique in France for its spectacular and ornate Gothic façade. It'll take your breath away!

Inside the monastery, you'll find information panels in different languages that will help you to appreciate the history of the complex even more and discover all its secrets.

Opening Hours

The Royal Monastery of Brou opens every day (except January 1, May 1 and December 25) at the following times:

October 1st to March 31st: 9 am to 5 pmApril 1st to September 30th: from 9 am to 6 pm

Special Christmas Opening Hours

December 24th and 31st: from 9 am to 4 pm

In all cases, final admission will be 30 minutes before closing time, and departure is 15 minutes before closing time.

Free Admission

Admission to the Royal Monastery of Brou is free for the following individuals:

Young people from the European Union between 18 and 25 years old.Children under 18 years old, regardless of their nationality.

In order to acquire the free admission mentioned above, you'll have to go to the site’s ticket office and present a valid ID demonstrating your eligibility for a free ticket.

Admission is also free for everyone on the first Sunday of the month between January 1 and March 31, between November 1 and December 31, and the third weekend of September.
