Join us for a journey back in time as we visit all the must-see spots and historic monuments on a tour of Braga, known as the "Portuguese Rome."
Braga Guided Tour
Meet us at Largo da Praça Velha to kick off our guided tour of Braga. In this historic plaza, one of the oldest in the city, we can admire the emblematic Porta Nova Arch, built in 1512. This arch, with its ornate baroque and neoclassical details, provides entry to the Braga Wall.
Next, we'll head to the Medieval Tower, an excellent example of northern Portuguese architecture.
Our walking tour continues down Diogo de Sousa Street to the Town Hall building, which started construction in 1754 and was completed in 1865. This baroque-style building is notable for its architecture.
Braga is considered Portugal's religious center. During our tour, we'll discuss its storied past, passing through the Santa Barbara Gardens, the Third Order Church dedicated to Pope John Paul II, and the impressive Braga Cathedral while sharing facts about the city.
We'll also discover notable 18th-century buildings such as Casa Rolão, Casa dos Crivos, and Capela e Casa dos Coimbras.
Finally, we'll return to the meeting point 2.5 hours later, bringing our tour to a close.
