Bran: the castle of Dracula holds many dark secrets. Discover them all on this tour around the inside of the monument.

Dracula's Castle Guided Tour

The towers and battlements of the castle form a striking silhouette. The inside resembles a scene from a dark story, influenced by its legends and history. In 1897, Irish writer Bram Stoker drew inspiration from the castle to write the famed gothic novel, Dracula.

The guided tour starts at number 2 Strada Valea Portii in Bran. This central point is just 200 metres from the fortress. Inside the Transylvanian fortress, the tour will cover the history of Bran Castle, which dates back to the 13th century.

In the early Middle Ages, Bran was contested by the Hungarian and Ottoman empires. The tour will explain its significance while exploring the courtyards and rooms of Bran Castle, which was historically home to noble families.

Additionally, participants will learn about the inspiration behind Bram Stoker's Count Dracula and the connection to the 15th-century prince Vlad Tepes Dr?culea, known as "Vlad the Impaler."

The tour concludes with an overview of the castle's recent history, focusing on renovations from the 1920s that preserved its medieval appearance.
