Bear Watching in the Romanian Carpathians
At the agreed time, we'll pick you up at the George Bari?iu Library and drive to the Transylvania region for the bear-watching activity. During the trip, we will explain the safety rules and provide information about the animals we may encounter. This area is renowned for housing a significant population of wild Carpathian brown bears, estimated at around 5,000.
Once in the forested region of the Romanian Carpathians, we will observe bears in their natural habitat from a designated viewpoint. A ranger will offer insights about the bears as we appreciate the surrounding landscapes. There is approximately an 80% chance of seeing a brown bear, with possibilities of observing large males or female bears with cubs.
You may also see other wildlife such as wild boars, roe deer, red deer, and game birds in the trees. The activity lasts about 4 hours, after which we will return you to the meeting point in Brasov.
Departure time
Although a start time is provided during booking, it may vary slightly. We will contact you to confirm the exact time, generally between 4 pm and 6 pm, depending on weather conditions and animal behavior.
Important to note
We cannot guarantee sightings of the wild animals listed in the itinerary. Wildlife is unpredictable, and we will respect their natural habitat while attempting to observe them.
