On this excursion to St. Anna Lake from Brasov, we'll explore the only volcanic lake in Eastern Europe and its surrounding landscapes.
St. Anna Lake Tour
We will pick you up at your hotel in Brasov at the specified time to start the excursion to St. Anna Lake. After a 1.5-2 hour drive, we'll arrive at our destination and begin our walk in the Ciomatu Mountains of the Eastern Carpathians, located 3,117 feet (950 meters) above sea level.
During the walk, we will share details about this area, which formed in the crater of a volcano that erupted approximately 32,000 years ago. It has become a popular destination in Transylvania due to its beauty and legends. This is also a protected area where you can see carnivorous plants, miniature conifers, and many species visible only in the summer months.
As the final stop, we'll go to Balvanyos and start a walking route to the "stinking caves" and the "bird cemetery," where you will learn how they received these names.
We will return to Brasov after 8-10 hours of exploring.
