Day Trip from Brussels to Bruges & Ghent

We will convene in central Brussels at the designated time, after which we'll embark on a bus ride to northern Belgium. Prior to our visit to Bruges and Ghent, a leisurely bus tour of Brussels will take place, allowing you to observe some of the city's most distinctive landmarks. This panoramic journey will guide you through the Financial District and alongside the ABC Canal, passing notable sights including the Godiva chocolate factory, Princess Elisabeth Park, and the stunning Basilica of the Sacred Heart.

After the tour of the capital, we will depart Brussels, heading towards the enchanting city of Bruges, often referred to as “The Venice of the North”.

Exploring Bruges

Upon our arrival in Bruges, we'll commence with an exploration of the city, visiting popular sites like the historic Old Saint John’s Hospital and the magnificent medieval Church of Our Lady, home to the famous Madonna and Child sculpture.

Your journey will also include key attractions such as Market Square, the Basilica of the Holy Blood, the Belfry of Bruges, the serene Lake of Love, the Begijnhof established in 1245, Walplein Square, the scenic Dijver Canal, Tanners Square, and the Gothic-style Town Hall at Castle Square. This extensive tour promises to be thorough!

Following our guided exploration of Bruges, you will have 1.5 hours of leisure time to enjoy a meal, embark on a boat ride, or unwind with a coffee while savoring exquisite Belgian chocolate.

Refreshed and ready, we will then proceed to Ghent, known for being one of the most vibrant cities in Europe, largely due to its esteemed university.

Discovering Ghent

Upon reaching Ghent, we will explore St. Bravo’s Cathedral, renowned for the iconic painting by the Van Eyck brothers, “The Adoration of the Mystic Lamb”.

Next, we’ll visit the Belfry of Ghent, Saint Nicholas’ Church, Gravensteen (the Castle of Gerald the Devil), the intriguing Town Hall, and the Masons’ Guild House, while also taking a stroll through the Patershol district.

After immersing ourselves in the rich experiences Ghent has to offer, you will have some additional free time to explore the city at your leisure.

In conclusion, after a full day steeped in culture and history, we will return to the heart of Brussels, marking the end of this enriching excursion, which lasts approximately 10.5 to 11.5 hours.

Option for Boat Tour in Bruges

If you prefer, there's an option to include a 30-minute boat trip on the canals of Bruges. This will commence from the Rosary pier and can be enjoyed during your free time in the city.
