Belgium is spelled with a b for "bandé dessinée", the French term for Ninth Art. This comic tour of Brussels showcases various urban vignettes found in the city’s murals.
Description
The comic tour of Brussels commences at the designated time on Rue du Marché au Charbon. Initially, we will visit a shop specializing in Ninth Art to explore the captivating realm of Belgian comics.
We will then stroll through the capital to view several murals dedicated to comics, learning about the artists behind these works and the key schools of Franco-Belgian comics, particularly the renowned "clear line" style. Additionally, we will uncover the first mural dedicated to comics in Brussels.
Next, we will stop at the house that inspired Hergé in creating Tintin's home, situated near the market associated with the 'unicorn' from one of the comics. Following several more murals, we will traverse ‘Les Marolles’, the authentic district where murals of Hergé characters, PeyoThe Smurfs' creator, and others can be found.
The tour concludes after 2.5 hours at the Place du Jeu de Balle, the square where Tintin embarks on a notable adventure depicted in a Spielberg film. This may be the start of your own great adventure.
