Belgium is spelled with a b for "bandé dessinée", the French term for Ninth Art. This comic tour of Brussels highlights various urban vignettes across the city's murals.
Description
The tour begins at the scheduled time on Rue du Marché au Charbon. We will first visit a shop specializing in Ninth Art, where the fascinating world of Belgian comics will be introduced.
Following that, we will stroll through Brussels to view several murals dedicated to comics. Participants will learn about the artists, the connections between them, and the leading schools of Franco-Belgian comics, including the notable "clear line". Furthermore, we will discover the first mural dedicated to comics in Brussels.
Next, we will stop at the house that inspired Hergé for Tintin's home, located near the market associated with the famous ‘unicorn’ in one of the comics. After exploring more murals, we will traverse ‘Les Marolles’, Brussels' authentic and popular district, where additional murals featuring Hergé characters, Peyó, creator of The Smurfs, and others can be seen.
After a duration of 2.5 hours, the tour concludes at Place du Jeu de Balle, the same square where Tintin starts one of his adventures, adapted into a film by Spielberg. This could mark the onset of your own adventure.
