Known for its impossible bends in the mountains of Transylvania and Valaquia, the famous Transfagarasan Road offers an exhilarating experience.

Description

We will begin the day with a pickup from your hotel in Bucarest. The journey will take us to the Transfagarasan Road, constructed in the 1970s by the Romanian armed forces for strategic access. Our first stop will be at Curtea de Arges, a notable monastery and burial site for the Romanian royal family, where we will learn about its famous legend.

Our itinerary includes traveling through the breathtaking twists of the Transfagarasan Road, passing by the Vidraru Dam for a short photo opportunity. We will reach Lake Balea, a glacial lake, with a two-hour stop for lunch at local restaurants and a chance to enjoy panoramic views.

After the break, we will return to Bucarest via the opposite side of the road, ensuring you can appreciate the stunning landscapes. The estimated return to your hotel is 12 hours after pickup.

Road closures

Note that the Transfagarasan Road may be partially or completely closed due to various sporting events.
