Known for its impossible bends in the mountains of Transylvania and Valaquia, you'll feel like you're in an action movie as you discover the famous Transfagarasan Road.
Description
The tour begins with a hotel pickup in Bucarest at the designated time. From there, we proceed to the Transfagarasan Road, constructed in the 1970s by the Romanian armed forces for strategic access to Transylvania and Valaquia.
We will make a stop at Curtea de Arges, noted for its beauty and as a burial site for the Romanian royal family. Here, we will learn about its notable legend.
We will travel through the impressive bends of the Transfagarasan Road, passing by the Vidraru Dam, where a brief pause will be made for photographs of the scenery.
The highest point on the Transfagarasan Road is Lake Balea, a glacial lake. We will explore interesting facts about the area and walk for a panoramic view of the road. Participants will have two hours for lunch at local restaurants, making this a perfect photo opportunity.
After lunch, we will return to Bucarest via the opposite side of the road, allowing for more scenic views. The expected arrival at the hotel is 12 hours after pickup.
Road closures
Transfagarasan Road may be partially or completely closed due to various sporting events.
