Transylvania 2-Day Expedition

Day 1: Bucharest - Sinaia - Bran - Brasov

In the early morning, you will be collected from your hotel in Bucharest to embark on a journey into the heart of Transylvania, transitioning from the bustling capital to the captivating regions known as the "Paris of the East" and the "Land Beyond the Forest".

Your first destination, after approximately 2.5 hours of travel by bus, will be the charming town of Sinaia, renowned for the historic Peles Castle, constructed between 1873 and 1914. This stunning palatial complex, originally built as the summer residence of the Romanian royal family, now serves as an intriguing museum where visitors can appreciate one of Romania’s pivotal historical edifices.

Next, you will venture into the eerie atmosphere of Bran Castle, often associated with the legend of Count Dracula. You'll gain insight into its fascinating history from the exterior, followed by the chance to explore the inside of the castle at your leisure with an included ticket.

Before proceeding to Brasov, you will have some leisure time for lunch. In Brasov’s historic center, you will delve into its major sites, with the impressive Black Church standing out as a hallmark of the city. As Romania's finest example of Gothic architecture, you’ll learn why it bears this intriguing name during your visit.

After your explorations, feel free to enjoy an overnight stay in Brasov.

Day 2: Brasov - Sighisoara - Rupea - Bucharest

Following breakfast, you will leave your lodging and board a bus heading to Sighisoara, often referred to as the city of Dracula. Here, you can wander through vividly painted streets and traditional homes as you uncover the narrative of Bram Stoker and his famed character.

Your journey continues to the Rupea Citadel, one of Transylvania’s significant fortifications. You will learn about the various threats the fortress faced while defending its residents and enjoy breathtaking panoramic vistas from its elevated position.

The next point of interest will vary with the seasons. From November to May, you will visit Prejmer, home to a majestic World Heritage Site church that is sure to leave a lasting impression. Conversely, if you are traveling between June and October, the itinerary will take you along the Transf?g?r??an, noted as one of the most scenic roads globally.

Your expedition will conclude as you return to Bucharest, wrapping up two days filled with exploration and discovery.

Accommodation

During this journey, you will stay at the Bella Musica Hotel, a 3-star establishment. Should this venue be fully booked, accommodations of comparable quality will be arranged.

Important Information

The return route to Bucharest will utilize the Transf?g?r??an Highway from June 30 to October 30, subject to favorable weather conditions. Alternatively, a different route will be taken if required. From December 1 to May 31, the tour will include a visit to Prejmer without traversing the Transf?g?r??an Highway.
