Embark on a comprehensive day journey from Budapest to the remarkable Lake Balaton, which is known as Central Europe's largest freshwater lake, along with the charming towns that surround it.
Explore Lake Balaton: Full-Day Excursion
Our adventure begins at a designated meeting point in Budapest, setting the stage for our exploration of Lake Balaton. Are you prepared to experience the grandeur of the largest lake in Central Europe? Let’s proceed!
Leaving Budapest, we will enjoy a scenic two-hour drive to the quaint village of Tihany. This area is celebrated for offering breathtaking vistas of the magnificent Lake Balaton, a spot cherished by locals and tourists alike.
While in Tihany, you may choose to visit the historic Benedictine Abbey, originally established in 1055 by King Andrew I of Hungary, whose remains rest in the abbey's crypt. The structure was renovated in 1754 in an elegant Baroque style.
Following our time in Tihany, we will board a boat for a 1-hour ride, immersing ourselves in the stunning scenery of Lake Balaton from the water's surface. Prepare to capture unforgettable moments!
Our final stop will take us to Balatonfüred, renowned as Hungary’s oldest spa town. Here, you can meander along the sophisticated promenade, soaking in the relaxing atmosphere.
At the end of the day, we’ll return to Budapest, arriving approximately between 9.5 to 10 hours after our departure.
Train Journey
As part of the booking process, we will notify you about the inclusion of a train ride through Balatonfüred in your excursion, depending on availability. If the train is not operational that day, you will enjoy extended free time in the town.
