Buenos Aires Bookstores Tour

Jorge Luis Borges once said: "I always imagined that paradise would be some kind of library." With 370 shops, Buenos Aires has the highest number of bookstores per capita in the world. We will meet at 10 am next to the famous pyramid of Plaza de Mayo.

Our literary tour will begin at La Librería de Ávila, the oldest bookshop in Buenos Aires, located on Calle Adolfo Alsina in Monserrat. This shop dates back to the late 18th century and attracts many readers, some of whom visit the basement literary café.

Next, we will visit El Túnel bookstore on Avenida de Mayo, located near the historic Café Tortoni in the Palacio Vera, styled in Jugendstil.

We will then stop at Edipo Libros on Avenida Corrientes, an emblematic store that survived the literary prohibitions during the 1976-1983 Civil-Military Dictatorship.

At noon, the tour will conclude at El Ateneo Grand Splendid, considered one of the most beautiful bookstores in the world by The Guardian. This store occupies an old cinema-theater from the early 20th century and is a true temple of knowledge for book lovers.
