Buenos Aires Bookstores Tour

Jorge Luis Borges once said: "I always imagined that paradise would be some kind of library." Buenos Aires has the highest number of bookstores per capita in the world, with 370 shops. The tour starts at 10 am next to the famous pyramid of Plaza de Mayo.

We'll begin at La Librería de Ávila, the oldest bookshop in Buenos Aires, established in the late 18th century, featuring a literary café in its basement.

Next, we will visit El Túnel bookstore, located on the first floor of Palacio Vera, decorated in the Jugendstil style near Café Tortoni.

Our third stop will be Edipo Libros on Avenida Corrientes, an emblematic store that survived the literary prohibitions during the cultural genocide from 1976 to 1983 in Argentina.

We will end the tour at noon at El Ateneo Grand Splendid, renowned as one of the most beautiful bookstores in the world. This bookstore occupies the space of an old cinema-theater from the early 20th century, serving as a true haven for book lovers.
