Colon Theatre & MALBA Museum Walking Tour

We'll meet at the indicated time in the San Telmo neighbourhood, the oldest area of Buenos Aires. Then, we'll start the tour by exploring this area and learning about the essence of tango and the arts in the city.

We'll wander south along Calle Defensa, visiting the antique markets and we'll soon reach Lezama park where you'll see the tree-lined avenues and the amphitheatre. Our next stop will be at the southern end of the Puerto Madero district, where we'll walk along the riverbank on the opposite side of the city. We hope you've got your camera, as you'll want to capture these wonderful views!

We'll cross over the Puente de la Mujer rotating footbridge, and as we do, the skyscrapers and exclusive restaurants that fill this area will catch your eye: a stark contrast to other images of Buenos Aires.

The walking tour will lead to Avenida Paseo Colón, and we'll reach the historic Plaza de Mayo square, where you'll be able to admire the Metropolitan Cathedral, the Cabildo, and the Casa Rosada presidential house. The next stop will be to take a look at the obelisk, and then, after walking along Avenida 9 de Julio, we'll reach the Teatro Colón theatre.

We'll head inside this emblematic theatre, considered as one of the best five theatres in the world. As you explore the main foyer, the gallery, the hall and its other facilities, you're sure to understand why it is so highly regarded.

Finally, we'll leave the theatre and travel by public transport to the MALBA Museum (Museum of Latin American Art of Buenos Aires), located in the heart of the Palermo neighbourhood. We'll give you your tickets, and you'll explore this museum, one of the most comprehensive and important in terms of Latin American art, on your own.
