Description

Day 1

On the first day, you'll be picked up from Lalibela Airport and taken to your hotel in Lalibela. After dropping off your luggage, the tour will begin with visits to the UNESCO-protected rock-hewn churches.

First, visit Bet Medhane Alem, a large underground church carved from a monolith situated in a 12-metre deep moat. Learn about the 11 Ethiopian Orthodox churches created during the Zagwe Dynasty between the 11th and 13th centuries. Next, explore the connected Church of Biete Maryam and its notable frescoes, followed by Bet Golgotha and Bet Danaghel. The day concludes with a return to the hotel.

Day 2

Early on the second day, attend a religious ceremony at one of Lalibela's famous churches. After a hearty breakfast, head to Bet Yemrehanna Kristo, a significant pilgrimage center built within a large cavern: this church is not carved from rock. Following lunch, visit Bet Gabriel-Rufael, Bet Abba Libanos, and Biete Amanuel, believed to be the private chapel of the Ethiopian royal family. Return to the hotel afterwards.

Day 3

After breakfast, enjoy the day at leisure. At the agreed time, transfer to the airport for departure, concluding three unforgettable days exploring the rock churches of Lalibela!
