5-Day Trek on Navarino Island
Day 1
We'll commence our journey with a pick-up from your accommodation in Puerto Williams, heading to the trails of Dientes de Navarino Island. Excitement fills the air as we begin our exploration!
The initial segment of our trek covers approximately 2 miles (3.5 kilometers) leading us up to the crest of Bandera Hill. Standing at 2,132 feet (650 meters), this summit offers stunning panoramic vistas of Navarino Island. After soaking in the breathtaking sights, we will make our descent.
Our day concludes as we set up camp near Salto Lagoon.
Day 2
On the second day, we’ll traverse various mountain passes, starting at the First Pass. Our journey will take us through Róbalo Valley towards the spectacular Australia Pass, renowned for its captivating scenery ideal for all hiking enthusiasts.
The route will continue to Dientes Pass, allowing us to traverse a mountain range and witness the southern section of Navarino Island. Following this, we’ll arrive at Dientes Lagoon before heading up to Gabriel Hill. Have your cameras ready to capture the magnificent views from this vantage point!
We will pitch our camp around the base of Gabriel Hill for the night.
Day 3
Awaken refreshed for another adventure! After breakfast at the campsite, we will walk towards Dientes Lagoon. We’ll skirt its shores before making our way to the picturesque Escondida Lagoon surrounded by captivating landscapes.
Next, we’ll reach Ventarrón Pass, aptly named for the strong winds that sweep through this area. Our next destination will be the stunning Guerrico Pass, offering panoramic views over the valley below.
Guerrico Pass is a haven for nature enthusiasts, providing an opportunity to observe a variety of endemic flora and fauna unique to the Chilean portion of Tierra del Fuego. Marvel at the sweeping views adjacent to the Strait of Magellan.
As day three draws to a close, we'll establish camp along the Martillo Lagoon for the evening.
Day 4
Our fourth day begins with a crossing through peat bogs, as we gradually ascend to Virginia Pass. This will be the highest elevation we reach, at 2,782 feet (848 meters) above sea level.
After taking in the sights from Virginia Pass, we’ll descend towards Guanaco Lagoon, where we will settle in for the night at a campsite by this stunning Fuegian lake.
Day 5
Early risers will start the day with breakfast before embarking on the final hiking segment of our journey. Upon completion of the trek, we will head back to Puerto Williams, where a traditional local lunch awaits at a nearby restaurant, featuring a selection of regional delicacies.
Spend a leisurely afternoon exploring Puerto Williams, before we gather in the city center to venture to a nearby Fuegian forest for a memorable campfire dinner.
The day concludes as we return you to your hotel in Puerto Williams around midnight.
Accommodation and Meals
This expedition includes 4 nights of camping in mountain tents. We will provide sleeping bags and mats for your comfort while staying in two-person tents.
All meals, including breakfasts, lunches, and dinners, are covered. Throughout our hikes, we'll also supply you with energizing snacks such as energy bars, dried fruits, sweet treats, and drink mixes.
