Immerse yourself in the history of 18th-century Cádiz on this guided tour, discovering the most iconic monuments from its golden age: the Cathedral and the Tavira Tower.
Tour Details
We'll meet in the Plaza de San Juan de Dios, in the heart of Cádiz, to begin an exciting tour of two key monuments of the city's golden age. After a brief stroll through the Old Town and under the Arco de la Rosa, you'll reach the Cádiz Cathedral. Locals refer to it as the "New Cathedral", built to accommodate a growing population. Its architectural styles from Baroque to Rococo to Neoclassical reflect the 116 years it took to complete.
Next, you'll head to the Torre Tavira, the tallest tower in Cádiz's old town. After enjoying its baroque-style architecture, we'll ascend 129 steps to take in a breathtaking panoramic view of the city and the bay. The tower features a Cámara Oscura where you can see a live, moving projection of the outside using a periscope, creating an optical illusion that brings distant objects closer.
Cathedral Museum
The tour includes admission to the Cathedral Museum. However, due to time constraints, we won't visit it during the tour. At the end of the tour, you'll be free to visit it at your own pace, without the guide.
Important Info
To enjoy the view from the Tavira Tower, you must be able to climb 173 steps.
