Immerse yourself in the history of 18th-century Cádiz on this guided tour, discovering the most iconic monuments from its golden age: the Cathedral and the Tavira Tower.
Tour Details
We'll meet in the Plaza de San Juan de Dios to begin an exciting tour of two important monuments. After a brief stroll through the Old Town and passing under the Arco de la Rosa, you'll reach the Cádiz Cathedral, known locally as the "New Cathedral," built to accommodate the growing population. Its architectural styles reflect its 116-year construction period.
Next, you'll head to the Torre Tavira, the tallest tower in Cádiz's old town. Following a review of its baroque-style architecture, we'll ascend one of its 129 lookout towers for a breathtaking panoramic view of the city and the bay. The tower also features a Cámara Oscura, where you can see a live, moving projection using a periscope, creating an optical illusion of distant objects appearing closer.
Cathedral Museum
The tour includes admission to the Cathedral Museum, but you will not visit it during the tour. At the end of the tour, you'll be free to visit it at your own pace, without the guide.
Important Info
To enjoy the view from the Tavira Tower, you must be able to climb 173 steps.
