If you're in France, visit the Mémorial de Caen, a museum dedicated to the Second World War, the Landing of Normandy on D-Day, and the Cold War.
Why Visit Mémorial de Caen?
Situated near the beaches of the Normandy Landings, the Mémorial de Caen features original artifacts like vehicles, weapons, uniforms, posters, photographs, and maps. The exhibition on genocides and mass violence is notable, as is the section on Resistance and Liberation.
The D-Day exhibition highlights the events of June 6, 1944, central to the Second World War, including details about key beaches like Utah Beach and Omaha Beach. Other significant areas in the museum are General Wilhelm Richter's bunker and the exhibition on the Cold War.
The 20th-century immersive room offers a 19-minute film in a 360-degree room that covers European history from 1900 to 1991.
