Why Visit Mémorial de Caen?
Located near the beaches of the Normandy Landings, the Mémorial de Caen showcases original items including vehicles, weapons, uniforms, posters, photographs, and maps. Key sections include those on genocides, the Resistance, and the Liberation. The D-Day exhibition focuses on the 6th of June 1944, detailing the various beaches involved in the landings.
Other notable areas include General Wilhelm Richter's bunker and an exhibition on the Cold War. The museum also features a 20th-century immersive room with a 19-minute film in a 360-degree room presenting Europe's history from 1900 to 1991.
