On this tour, we'll explore the historic centre of Cairo, touring its must-see locations: the Cairo Citadel, the Mohamed Ali Mosque, the Khan el-Khalili market, and the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square.

Tour Details

Having picked you up from your hotel in Cairo or Giza, we'll make our way to the historic centre of one of the largest cities in Africa.

Our first stop will be the Cairo Citadel, an enormous medieval fortress. Inside, we'll take a look at the beautifully decorated Mohamed Ali mosque, known as the alabaster mosque.

Leaving the fortress, we'll go to the Khan el-Khalili market, the most famous in Cairo, with labyrinthine streets ideal for buying souvenirs and reproductions of ancient Egyptian objects.

We'll stop to eat after visiting the market, with a menu including various salads, a main course with rice and vegetables, and a refreshing fruit salad for dessert.

In the afternoon, we’ll explore the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square for an hour and a half, viewing the Royal Mummies Hall, the Narmer Palette, giant statues like Amenhotep III, and displays of sarcophagi and jewels. Note that this museum is different from the New Egyptian Museum.

We'll pass through Coptic Cairo, visiting Al-Muallaqa (the hanging church) and the church of Saints Sergius and Bacchus, known as the cave church. This sightseeing experience will conclude back at your hotel approximately 8 hours after pickup.
