Standing at the crossroads of Europe, Africa and Asia, the famed Suez Canal is one of Egypt's notable engineering feats. Discover it with this excursion from Cairo.

Itinerary

Your hotel will be the starting point for our departure from Cairo, heading North. The first stop will be in Ismailía, a city established in the late 19th century as a base for the construction of the Suez Canal.

After a quick tour of Ismailia, we will proceed to the Suez Canal's banks. While walking along the water's edge, you will learn about the history of this significant infrastructure project, which enables ships to travel between the Mediterranean and the Red Sea without circumnavigating Africa.

Following our history lesson, a typical Egyptian lunch will be served in a restaurant overlooking the canal.

After lunch, we will begin our return journey to Cairo.
