Spend a day exploring a fascinating Peruvian archaeological site on our Cumbemayo Day Trip. We'll leave Cajamarca behind and venture to its mysterious stone forests and aqueducts.

Cumbemayo Day Trip

Picking you up from your hotel at 9:30 am, we'll set off for Cumbemayo, an archaeological site featuring large stone monoliths known as frailones. This site dates back to around 1000 BC, over 3,000 years old.

We'll visit the Cumbemayo Aqueduct, a significant hydraulic engineering work from the pre-Columbian period, where water still flows along its 6-mile (9-kilometre) stretch. The purpose of the aqueduct remains a mystery, despite the Cajamarca region having sufficient water supply, leading historians to believe it was related to the sanctuary, a rock resembling a human head where human sacrifices occurred. Nearby caves with engraved rocks will also be explored, though their meanings are unknown.

On our way back to your hotel, we'll stop at the Bellavista viewpoint for views of the Cajamarca Valley.

Our arrival back at your hotel is scheduled for 1 pm.
