Lake Sausacocha & Wiracochapampa Excursion

We'll start with the pickup at 5 am at your hotel in Cajamarca. For three hours, we'll cross the plains of northern Peru until we reach the town of Cajabamba, where we'll have a break for breakfast on your own. Afterward, we'll set off for Lake Sausacocha.

Upon arrival, our tour will begin with a visit to this spring, an important wetland area surrounded by low hills. The term Sausacocha comes from the Inca word "sawsaqucha," which means "lagoon that never dries up."

We will take an hour and a half break for lunch. During this time, you can explore the lagoon and go on a boat ride. Next, we'll head to the archaeological complex of Wiracochapampa, where we'll learn about its legends.

These ruins belong to the Wari, an Andean civilization that inhabited much of Peru. Here, we'll see their trapezoidal constructions with walls up to 20 meters high. During the walk, we'll admire the carefully planned squares and patios.

After the tour, we'll return to Cajamarca, arriving at your hotel by 9:30 pm.
