Marcahuamachuco Tour
At the indicated time, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Cajamarca. After a 3-hour drive, we'll arrive in Cajabamba, where we'll stop for breakfast on your own. We'll then head towards the archaeological site of Marcahuamachuco.
Marcahuamachuco is known in Peru as the Machu Picchu of the north. It's located on a mountain plain, at an altitude of 3600 metres (11811 feet) above sea level. The construction of Marcahuamachuco began in 500 BC and its influence was significant for northern Peru in pre-Inca times, likely serving as the main commercial centre of this area. We'll begin our visit by touring the three hills that make up the complex. First, we'll see the Cerro del Castillo, featuring an imposing fortress surrounded by galleries.
At the end of the tour, we'll take a break for lunch at a local restaurant nearby before returning to the starting point, concluding with a total of 16 hours of hiking.
