Travel back in time with this day trip to Ventanillas de Otuzco, a pre-Inca cemetery, and explore the customs of a Peruvian farm.
Ventanillas of Otuzco Day Trip
Pick-up will be at your hotel in Cajamarca at 3:30 pm. The excursion begins with a drive to the village of Otuzco, crossing the suspension bridge over the Chonta River. The Ventanillas de Otuzco, located 4 miles (7 kilometers) from the village, features over 300 tombs carved into volcanic rock.
This ancient cemetery is part of the Caxamarca culture, which was present before the Incas and integrated into the Inca Empire until the arrival of the Spanish. During the visit, you will see the window-shaped niches and learn about their historical significance.
The tour continues at the Hacienda Tres Molinos, a traditional dairy farm producing products like cheese, butter, and the South American sweet blancmange. Guests can explore the outdoor hydrangea garden, showcasing various flowers and fruits.
After the visit, free time will be provided for tasting local delicacies and horseback riding around the hacienda. The return to your hotel is estimated for 7 am.
