Day Excursion to Ventanillas of Otuzco

Your adventure will commence at 3:30 pm when you are collected from your hotel in Cajamarca. Are you prepared to step back into the past?

Our pathway leads us towards the village of Otuzco, where we will cross the suspension bridge spanning the Chonta River. Just a short distance of 4 miles (7 kilometers) away lies the notable Ventanillas de Otuzco, a burial site featuring over 300 tombs meticulously carved from volcanic rock.

This historical necropolis is associated with the Caxamarca culture, who thrived long before the Inca civilization and were eventually absorbed into the Inca Empire prior to the arrival of the Spanish. Throughout the visit, you will observe the window-like niches that lend the site its name, as well as uncover the secrets they hold.

Following this, we will explore the Hacienda Tres Molinos, a traditional agricultural estate known for its dairy production, including cheese, butter, and South America's delightful blancmange. Enjoy the beautiful hydrangea garden on the premises, showcasing a splendid array of flowers and fruits.

At the conclusion of our journey, you’ll have some leisure time to savor the local delicacies and even partake in a horseback ride around the estate. After this enriching expedition, we'll make our way back to your hotel, arriving approximately at 7 am.
