Travel back in time with this day trip to Ventanillas de Otuzco, a pre-Inca cemetery, and discover customs of a Peruvian farm.

Ventanillas of Otuzco Day Trip

Pickup at your hotel in Cajamarca is at 3:30 pm. The journey to the village of Otuzco will include crossing the suspension bridge over the Chonta River, just 4 miles (7 kilometers) from the village. You will visit the Ventanillas de Otuzco, a necropolis with over 300 tombs carved into volcanic rock.

This cemetery is part of the Caxamarca culture, which existed before the Incas and became part of the Inca Empire before the Spanish arrived. During the visit, you will see the window-shaped niches and learn about their historical significance.

The tour continues to Hacienda Tres Molinos, a traditional farm known for dairy products such as cheese, butter, and the sweet blancmange. The farm features an outdoor area, including a hydrangea garden showcasing various flowers and fruits.

Afterward, you will have free time to sample local delicacies and take a horseback ride around the hacienda. The tour concludes with a return to your hotel, arriving at approximately 7 am.
