Chacabuco Ghost Town Private Tour
We will pick you up from your hotel in Calama for the private tour of the Chacabuco ghost town. Along the way, we will briefly stop at Pique Chela, a spa established for local families around the end of the 19th century, previously considered Bolivian territory.
At approximately noon, we will arrive at Pampa Union town, founded in 1911 for salt mining, linked to the construction of a sanatorium for sick and injured workers from the salt mines.
We will then proceed to the ghost town of Chacabuco. Upon arrival, we will walk through the empty streets and discuss the town's history. Originally a salt mining town, it housed the significant Chacabuco Saltpeter Office.
At its peak, the village had up to 5,000 inhabitants, leading to the establishment of various facilities, including a theater, hotel, school, market, and sports amenities.
After exploring the Chacabuco ghost town, we will return you to your hotel in Calama, concluding the tour approximately 8 hours after departure.
