Get ready for an extraordinary private trekking adventure at the Poruña Volcano, a crater in the Chilean Andes, the smallest in South America.
Tour Highlights
The adventure begins with a pickup at 8:30 am from your hotel in Calama. A scenic drive of approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes will take us to the starting point of our hike at the Poruña Volcano.
Once we reach the volcano, we'll commence our ascent to the summit. After 1 hour of trekking, we'll reach the peak at an elevation of 3,625 meters (8,610 feet) above sea level. Poruña, at about 150 meters (500 feet) high, is recognized as the smallest volcano in South America and the world.
At the summit, enjoy panoramic views, including the San Pedro and San Pablo volcanoes and an 8-kilometer (5-mile) stretch of solidified lava. It is believed that Poruña is a side crater of the San Pedro volcano.
After the trek, we'll descend in about 1 hour. Upon returning to the base, we'll transport you back to Calama, concluding the adventure by 4 pm.
