Get ready for an extraordinary private trekking adventure at the Poruña Volcano, a mesmerizing crater nestled in the Chilean Andes, the smallest in South America.
Tour Highlights
We'll kick off the adventure by picking you up at 8:30 am from your hotel in Calama, setting the stage for an exciting day of exploration.
A scenic drive of approximately an hour and a quarter will take us to the starting point of our hike at the Poruña Volcano.
Upon reaching the volcano, we'll begin our ascent to the summit. After an hour's trek, we'll reach the peak at an elevation of 3,625 meters (8,610 feet) above sea level. The Poruña is recognized as the smallest volcano in South America, standing at about 150 meters (500 feet).
At the summit, enjoy panoramic views. Observe the San Pedro and San Pablo volcanoes as well as an 8-kilometer (5-mile) stretch of solidified lava. Notably, Poruña is considered a side crater of the San Pedro volcano.
Following the trek, we'll descend, which takes about one hour. Once back at the base, we'll transport you back to Calama, concluding the adventure by 4 pm.
