Get ready for an extraordinary private trekking adventure at the Poruña Volcano, a mesmerizing crater nestled in the Chilean Andes, the smallest in South America.
Tour Highlights
We'll kick off the adventure by picking you up at 8:30 am from your hotel in Calama, setting the stage for an exciting day of exploration.
A scenic drive of approximately an hour and a quarter will take us to the starting point of our hike at the Poruña Volcano. Let the journey commence!
Upon reaching the proximity of the volcano, we'll embark on a captivating ascent to its summit. After an hour's trek, we'll conquer the peak at an elevation of 3,625 meters (8,610 feet) above sea level. The Poruña is recognized as the smallest volcano in South America and even in the world, standing at about 150 meters (500 feet).
At the summit, enjoy the breathtaking panoramic views which include the majestic San Pedro and San Pablo volcanoes and an approximately 8-kilometer (5-mile) stretch of solidified lava. Poruña is believed to be a side crater of the San Pedro volcano.
Following this trek, we'll begin the descent, which will take around one hour. Once back at the base, we'll transport you back to Calama, concluding the adventure by 4 pm.
