Embark on a day trip to Chiu Chiu and Pukara de Lasana from Calama, exploring the cultural heritage of the villages in the Alto del Loa region in the Atacama Desert.

Tour Highlights

At the designated time, our team will pick you up from your hotel in Calama. The journey begins in an off-roading vehicle, covering approximately 150 kilometers (93 miles) focused on the history and culture of the main villages in Alto del Loa.

Our first stop is Santa Margarita, known for its marble quarries and located beside the Loa River. Next, we will visit the Inca Coya Lagoon, an area rich in legends and mystery.

By 1 pm, we'll arrive at San Francisco de Chiu Chiu, providing an hour of free time to enjoy local cuisine. Following lunch, we will explore the history of Chiu Chiu, highlighting its establishment by the Spaniards as Atacama la Chica.

We will also visit the San Francisco Church, Chile's oldest church and a National Monument, known for its cactus wood structure and expansive portals.

At 3 pm, we proceed to Pukara de Lasana, which features remnants from the 6th century and insights into the agro-pottery culture of the region's early communities. The day concludes around 7 pm with a return to your hotel.
