Tour Highlights
Your adventure will commence at 8:30 am with a friendly pickup from your hotel in Calama, setting the stage for an exciting exploration of Chiu Chiu and the magnificent Poruña Volcano.
The journey begins at the Conchi Viaduct, also referred to as the Loa River Viaduct, which holds a rich history as one of the original paths for the railroad connecting Antofagasta to Bolivia.
As we proceed towards Poruña Volcano, prepare for a scenic 3-kilometer (1.8-mile) hike to witness the world's record-holding smallest crater. Enjoy the extraordinary views of the Andes Mountains that surround you.
Our route continues through the Lasana Valley, situated amidst the canyon of the Loa River. Here, you'll discover traces of the region's earliest human habitats, rooted in agricultural and pastoral traditions that date back centuries.
Arriving at San Francisco de Chiu Chiu around 1:30 pm, you’ll have an hour of leisure for lunch at your convenience. After your meal, we will stroll through the historic pathways of this town, once known as Atacama Chica, and explore significant sites including the oldest church in Chile—the San Francisco Church!
At 3 pm, we will commence our journey back to Calama, with your hotel drop-off scheduled for seven hours later.
