Embark on a private day trip to Chiu Chiu and the Poruña Volcano, exploring a village in Alto del Loa and the landscapes of the Andes Mountains.
Tour Highlights
At 8:30 am, our team will pick you up from your hotel in Calama to begin your journey to Chiu Chiu and the Poruña Volcano. The first stop is the Conchi Viaduct, historically significant as an initial route for the railroad from Antofagasta to Bolivia.
Continuing the vehicle journey, we reach the vicinity of Poruña Volcano, where a 3-kilometer (1.8-mile) hike awaits at the world-record-holder for the smallest crater. Enjoy the views of the Andes Mountains.
In the Lasana Valley, located in the Loa River canyon, we will see remnants of early human settlements that engaged in agriculture and livestock for centuries.
By 1:30 pm, we arrive in San Francisco de Chiu Chiu, providing an hour of free time for lunch. After lunch, we will explore the historic streets of the town, known as Atacama Chica, and visit its notable monuments, including the San Francisco Church, the oldest church in Chile.
At 3 pm, the return journey to Calama commences, concluding with your drop-off at your hotel seven hours later.
