Tour Details
At the indicated time, we'll meet at Plazoleta Jairo Varela to start our free salsa tour of Cali. This tour explores how Cali adopted salsa as its hallmark.
We'll walk through the vibrant streets of Cali while discussing the history of Salsa in Colombia—its origins and evolution in the country.
On our route, we'll stop to admire recent murals that highlight both historical and artistic significance. Salsa music represents an African emancipation movement in Colombia, and its rhythm embodies this paradox.
We'll learn about how salsa and street art have influenced the identity of Cali since the 60s and expanded throughout the country. The murals feature salsa icons, and we'll discuss the political and social activism associated with this art form.
We'll conclude the tour 3 hours after it begins.
