On this day trip to São José dos Ausentes, we will visit the tallest point in Rio Grande do Sul and admire its landscapes and the southern Brazilian coast.
Description
At the indicated time, we will pick you up from your hotel in Cambará do Sul and travel in a 4x4 vehicle to São José dos Ausentes. The name of this small town in central Rio Grande do Sul originates from its historical context.
During the journey, we will share the history of the town. Initially, São José dos Ausentes was the largest ranch in the region, covering over 1000 square kilometers (386 square miles). However, it was abandoned and left empty.
Upon arrival, we will head to Pico do Monte Negro and start a short 4-kilometer (2.5 miles) hiking route to reach the highest point in the state.
From 1043 meters (3421 feet) above sea level, we will enjoy views of the Monte Negro Canyon and, if conditions allow, see the Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina coast.
Later, we will return by 4x4 to a farm for a buffet-style lunch. After lunch, we will visit the Rodriges waterfall and explore Cerro Maracujá and the fields of Cima da Serra.
Finally, we will return to Cambará do Sul and conclude this day trip at your hotel after approximately 10 hours of activity.
