On this excursion from Campeche, we'll explore the Mayan culture by visiting Calakmul and Balamkú, significant archaeological sites on the Yucatán Peninsula.
Calakmul + Balamkú Tour
Pickup is at 5 am from your hotel in San Francisco de Campeche. We will travel into the Yucatán Peninsula to visit two key archaeological sites. The first stop is Calakmul, located four and a half hours away.
We will pause halfway for a breakfast that includes two sandwiches, juice, yogurt, and fruit. Upon arriving at Calakmul, a declared World Heritage Site, we will have a guided tour of the ruins, featuring tiered temples known as Structure I and II and an ancient ballgame court.
Next, we will proceed to the Mayan site of Balamkú, notable for its decorated temples with stunning stucco friezes and lithographic engravings.
After the visit, lunch will be served at the Puerta Calakmul restaurant, offering a choice between a traditional Mexican chicken dish or fajitas.
We will return to your hotel in Campeche by 8 pm.
