Calakmul + Balamkú Tour

On this excursion from Campeche, we will discover the Mayan culture by visiting Calakmul and Balamkú, two significant archaeological sites on the Yucatán Peninsula.

Calakmul + Balamkú Tour

Pickup is at 5 am at your hotel in San Francisco de Campeche. We will travel into the Yucatan Peninsula to visit two key archaeological sites. The first stop is Calakmul, located four and a half hours away.

We will stop halfway for a breakfast including two sandwiches, juice, yoghurt, and fruit. Afterward, we will continue to Calakmul, a significant Mayan political center in the pre-Columbian period.

Upon arrival, we will take a guided tour of the ruins of Calakmul, a World Heritage Site, where we will explore tiered temples known as Structure I and II and an ancient ball game court.

Next, we will proceed to the Mayan site of Balamkú, noted for its stucco friezes and impressive lithographic engravings.

After the archaeological site visit, we will have lunch at the Puerta Calakmul restaurant, with a choice of a traditional Mexican dish, either chicken prepared in local style or fajitas.

Finally, we will return to your hotel in Campeche, arriving at 8 pm.
