Edzná, San Luis Carpizo Hacienda + Champotón Day Trip

On this day trip to Edzná and its haciendas, we'll explore historical sites of the Mexican southeast, showcasing the Mayans and colonial legacy through culture and cuisine.

Day Trip Details

At the scheduled time, pickup will commence from your hotel in San Francisco de Campeche to Edzná, a significant Mayan site on the Yucatán peninsula. After approximately one hour's drive, we will arrive at this ancient Mayan city, known for its advanced hydraulic system.

Our 2-hour guided tour will start with the Great Acropolis and the renowned Five Storey Building, which functioned as a palace and an astronomical observatory. We will explore ceremonial temples to uncover how the ancient Maya aligned their structures with the stars for timekeeping and rituals. This site was a critical political and religious hub for over a millennium.

Next, we will visit the historic Ex Hacienda San Luis Carpizo, reflecting the henequen boom of the 19th century. This estate now serves the Ministry of the Navy, blending modernity with historical heritage. We will spend one hour touring its gardens and old workshops.

Our final destination is Champotón, a port known for its cuisine. Here, we will enjoy lunch featuring fresh seafood and other local dishes prepared by traditional cooks. Following lunch, you will have free time to stroll the boardwalk, relax, or take photos. After 2.5 hours in Champotón, we will return to Campeche, concluding the 9-hour trip at your hotel.
