Chichén Itzá & Ek Balam Day Trip
Following hotel pickup at the scheduled time, we'll travel to the interior of the Yucatán Peninsula to visit Chichén Itzá, one of Mexico's renowned archaeological sites.
Upon arrival, we will see the Temple of Kukulcán, recognized as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. It features large staircases that hold centuries of history. Other highlights include the Great Ball Court, the Venus Temple, and the Temple of the Warriors, as well as an observatory where we will learn about the Itzaes' astronomical understanding.
Next, we will head to Hubiku Cenote, where we can swim in the 200-foot (60-meter) deep crystal clear water. A Yucatecan lunch will be provided, and afterwards, there is an option to visit the tequila museum located on-site.
Our final destination is the Mayan city of Ek Balam, which dates back to 300 BC. We will explore its Entrance Arch, ceremonial centre, Oval Palace, and Ballcourt, all of which are well-preserved. Additionally, we will stop at the tomb of Ukit Kan Le'k Tok' to observe the detailed frieze and learn about the site's pyramids.
After approximately 12 hours of cultural immersion, we will return to the starting point.
