Why Visit the Bell Museum?
Located in Canela, the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes, known as the Cathedral of Stone, was recognized as one of the Seven Wonders of Brazil in 2010. Inside this Gothic-style church, visitors can find the Bell Museum. Your visit begins inside the Cathedral of Stone's tower, where you'll access the Bell Museum after climbing 100 stairs. The museum features two notable bells; the first bell produces an E flat note and weighs 2138 pounds (970 kilos), while the second bell plays an F note and weighs 1499 pounds (680 kilos). You can also view the Carrilhão da Independência, consisting of 12 bronze bells weighing around 4 tons. The ticket includes insights into the church’s history and its founder, canon João Marchesi, along with various altorrelieve pieces that depict regional traditions. Additionally, enjoy scenic views of Canela from the church's side balconies. Remember to bring your camera!
