Discover the wilderness of the Picos de Europa National Park on this small group trip to the Covadonga Lakes from Cangas de Onís. Observations of birds and nature are part of the experience, along with spectacular landscapes.
Explore the Lakes of Covadonga
Gather at the parking lot of Llerado Street in Cangas de Onís. A small-group vehicle will take us to explore the Picos de Europa National Park.
For 3.5 hours, we will explore the Covadonga, Enol, and Ercina lakes at an altitude of 1100 meters. Insights into the formation of these landscapes will be shared, allowing opportunities for photos against the lakes. The focus will be on enjoying the nature and landscapes of this area.
Next, we will visit Vega de Enol, the birthplace of Gamoneu cheese. Here, we will learn about the relationship between livestock farming and mountain ecosystems, as this is where shepherds produce this cheese.
Our journey continues with a stop at the Mirador de la Reina, offering stunning views. We will use binoculars and telescopes to observe birds of prey, including vultures, golden eagles, and bearded vultures, while learning about the reintroduction project for bearded vultures.
Throughout the tour, we will also discuss other wildlife in the park, such as bears, wolves, and chamois. At the end of the adventure, we will return to the meeting point, leaving you with lasting memories.
