Paestum Archeological Park Private Tour

This private guided tour of the Archaeological Park of Paestum in southern Italy begins at a selected time. The area, known as Magna Grecia during the Classical Age, offers a rich historical context.

The tour starts by reviewing Paestum's Greek origins and its subsequent Roman conquest, as well as the impact of natural events like the overflowing of the Salso River, which led to the city's abandonment.

We will first visit the temple of Hera, the oldest structure on site from the 6th century BC. Nearby is the temple of Poseidon, the largest temple in Paestum, which lends its name to the park. The tour continues to the sanctuary of Athena, notable for Christian tombs reflecting its later use as a church.

The guided itinerary proceeds along the Via Sacra to the forum and the Roman amphitheater of Paestum. As a concluding highlight, we will visit the National Archaeological Museum to see original artifacts from the area, including the significant Tomb of the Swimmer.

The tour lasts two hours, after which participants can choose to explore the park further on their own.
