Our adventure begins at the designated time when we meet at the Archaeological Park of Paestum. This site, significant in southern Italy, was once part of what was known as Magna Grecia during the Classical Age.

The guided tour of Paestum will kick off with a look into its Greek roots and its eventual Roman conquest. You will learn about the impact of natural disasters, such as the Salso River's flooding, which led to the city's decline.

Our first stop will be the temple of Hera, which is the oldest structure on site, tracing back to the 6th century BC. Nearby lies the impressive temple of Poseidon, the largest temple in Paestum, after which the archaeological park is named. Following our appreciation of its grand Doric columns, we will explore the sanctuary of Athena, notable for the Christian burials discovered onsite, as it later functioned as a church.

The next phase of our journey will take us along the Via Sacra, leading to the forum and the Roman amphitheater of Paestum. To cap off our tour perfectly, we will visit the National Archaeological Museum, where you can admire authentic artifacts uncovered in the area. We will also have the opportunity to explore the renowned Tomb of the Swimmer.
