This private guided tour of the Archaeological Park of Paestum will take you back in time to discover the history of ancient temples declared World Heritage Sites.

Paestum Archeological Park Private Tour

At the selected time, we'll meet at the Archaeological Park of Paestum to begin a tour of this important site in southern Italy, once known as Magna Grecia in the Classical Age.

The guided tour will cover Paestum's Greek origins and its eventual conquest by the Romans. We will also discuss how natural phenomena, such as the overflowing of the Salso River, contributed to the city's abandonment.

We will first visit the temple of Hera, the oldest temple on the site, dating back to the 6th century BC. Close by is the temple of Poseidon, the largest temple of Paestum, which lends its name to the archaeological park. After our exploration of its Doric colonnades, we will visit the sanctuary of Athena, notable for the Christian tombs that were later found on the site.

The tour will then take us along the Via Sacra towards the forum and the Roman amphitheater of Paestum. Finally, we will access the National Archaeological Museum to admire original pieces found at the site, including the Tomb of the Swimmer.

After a two-hour tour, we will conclude the guided segment. Should you wish, you can continue exploring at your leisure.
