Paestum Cheese Factory Visit

Embarking on this excursion to a cheese factory near Paestum, participants will delve into the art behind renowned dairy products of Campania, such as mozzarella and ricotta. The experience also includes tastings of these specialties paired with other regional delights!

Tour Details

At the scheduled time, we will convene at the Paestum Train Station, from where a minibus will take us directly to a cheese factory. Here, we will dedicate a few hours to uncovering the intricacies of Campania's beloved dairy products.

Following a 25-minute ride, we will arrive at our destination and begin our exploration of the factory’s operations. Our visit will start with a fascinating demonstration of the preparation process for buffalo mozzarella, where we can witness firsthand how this popular cheese is crafted.

Subsequently, we will proceed to the buffalo farm, where insights into the care of these animals will be shared—you will have the chance to interact with them up close! Additionally, visiting the factory includes access to a museum featuring over a thousand artifacts that document the agricultural history of the region.

Our journey will also include a visit to a leather workshop, where the transformation of buffalo hides into various artisanal goods takes place. As the tour concludes, we will indulge in a delightful tasting session. Attendees will have the opportunity to sample an array of dishes centered around mozzarella and ricotta, including crepes and salads.

Moreover, the tasting will feature homemade yogurt and an assortment of other dairy treats, such as ice cream or cappuccino—the choice is yours! Every tasting will be complemented by local wine, rustic bread, and water.

After an enriching 3.5-hour experience, we will return to our initial meeting point in Paestum, where we will part ways.
