Guided Walking Tour of Carbonia
At your selected time, we'll meet at Piazza Roma to start this guided walking tour of Carbonia. During the walking tour, we'll admire the main monuments of this Sardinian town and learn about its history.
Carbonia was founded by Benito Mussolini in 1938 as a Fascist settlement to control the nearby mines, which were the largest energy supply centre in Italy during their peak.
We'll walk around Carbonia, admiring the exteriors of emblematic monuments including the Torre Littoria, the cinema-theatre, and the Church of San Ponciano, notable for its 46-metre tall bell tower.
Next, we'll discover the Post Office and the Town Hall, followed by a visit to the ruins of the former house of one of the mine directors in Villa Sulcis Park. Throughout the tour, we'll learn interesting facts about the various locations we visit.
After two hours of sightseeing, we'll conclude our guided tour of Carbonia in Piazza Giacomo Matteotti.
