Guided Walking Tour of Carbonia
At your selected time, we'll meet at Piazza Roma to start this guided walking tour of Carbonia. During the tour, we'll admire the main monuments of this Sardinian town and learn about its history.
Carbonia was founded by Benito Mussolini in 1938 as a Fascist settlement to control the nearby mines, which were the largest energy supply center in Italy during their peak.
We'll walk around Carbonia, admiring the exteriors of key monuments including the Torre Littoria, the cinema-theatre, and the Church of San Ponciano, recognized for its 46-meter tall bell tower.
Next, we'll discover the Post Office and Town Hall, followed by a walk through Villa Sulcis Park to visit the ruins of a former mine director's house. Throughout the tour, we'll share interesting facts about the various locations.
After two hours of sightseeing, we'll conclude our guided tour of Carbonia in Piazza Giacomo Matteotti.
