The fortress of Carcassonne was a site of conflicts between the French and Aragonese during the Middle Ages. Your ticket allows access to the Romanesque Chapel of the Bastion, Machicolations for dropping projectiles, and the Barbican, a defensive gateway above the moat.
Additionally, the ticket provides access to the citadel's ramparts, where you can explore at your own pace and enjoy views of the Aude river valley and the historical city center, including the Saint-Nazaire basilica and Narbonne Gate.

The opening times are:
April 1 to September 30: 11 am to 6:30 pmOctober 1 to March 31: 9:30 am to 4:15 pm
Final admission is 45 minutes before closing. On December 24 and 31, closing is at 4 pm. These times are subject to change.
Free Admission
Free admission is available for:
European Union youth aged 18 to 25.Children under 18, regardless of nationality.
To obtain free admission, individuals must present a valid ID at the ticket office to demonstrate eligibility. Free admission is also offered on the first Sunday of the month from January to March and November to December, and on the third weekend of September.
