The legendary, impenetrable fortress of Carcassonne was the site of confrontations between the French and Aragonese during the Middle Ages. Your ticket grants access to the Romanesque Chapel of the Bastion, the Machicolations, and the Barbican.

The entrance includes access to the citadel's ramparts. You can stroll around the medieval city's walled perimeter, exploring different towers and battlements. Opening Times

The opening times of Carcassonne Castle are as follows:

April 1 to September 30: 10 am to 6:30 pmOctober 1 to March 31: 9:30 am to 5 pm

Final admission is 45 minutes before closing. On December 24th and 31st, the castle closes at 4 pm. These times are flexible and subject to change.

Admission to the Castle and walls of Carcassonne is free for the following individuals:

Young people from the European Union aged 18 to 25.Children under 18 years old, regardless of nationality.

To obtain free admission, visit the site’s ticket office and present a valid ID demonstrating eligibility. Free admission is also available on the first Sunday of the month from January to March and November to December, and the third weekend of September.
