Explore the old town in Southern France with this Carcassonne Guided Tour, discovering the Cathar history of one of the most significant towns in the Occitania region.

Description

At the indicated time, we'll meet in Place du Prado to begin our guided tour of Carcassonne.

We'll enter through the ancient gates of Porte Narbonnaise, the entrance to Carcassonne's fortified city. Here, we'll learn about the evolution of the defensive walls, which form one of the best-preserved citadels in Europe.

We will stop at the foot of the Carcassonne Castle, which can be visited independently at the end of the tour. While there, we will discuss feudalism, the Cathars, and the Albigensian crusade.

Then, we'll stroll through the medieval streets of Carcassonne, continuing to learn about the city's history and appreciating its architectural features.

Finally, we will visit the Saint-Nazaire Basilica, a notable example of Gothic architecture, where we can admire the luminosity through its stained glass windows.

We will return to the meeting point after 1.5 hours of exploring medieval history.
