Description
At the indicated time, we'll meet in Place du Prado to begin our guided tour of Carcassonne. First, we'll step through the ancient gates of Porte Narbonnaise, the grand entrance to Carcassonne's fortified city. We'll learn about the evolution of these defensive walls, which is now one of the best-preserved citadels in Europe.
Then, we'll stop at the foot of the Carcassonne Castle, which you'll be able to visit on your own at the end of the tour. Next to this bastion, we'll share stories about feudalism, the Cathars, and the Albigensian crusade.
Next, we'll stroll through the maze of medieval streets that wind through Carcassonne. As we explore, we'll continue learning about the city's history and architectural features.
Lastly, we'll visit the Saint-Nazaire Basilica, a masterpiece of Gothic architecture, where we'll enjoy the luminosity shining through its colorful stained glass windows.
Finally, we'll head back to the meeting point after 1.5 hours of medieval history.
