On this trip from Varadero, you'll visit the Ciénaga de Zapata National Park, home to the most important wetland of the insular Caribbean.

Description

At the scheduled time, you'll be picked up from your hotel in Varadero to start your trip to the Ciénaga de Zapata National Park. You'll explore one of the most amazing ecosystems in Latin America.

After approximately 2 hours, you'll arrive at the largest wetland in the insular Caribbean. A 2.5-kilometre hiking route will allow you to discover the diverse nature in this area, which is declared a Nature Reserve by UNESCO.

During the trip, you'll observe the native mangroves, crucial for coastal preservation, hosting a variety of wildlife, including 258 species of birds, 43 types of reptiles, and 15 mammals. Information about these creatures will be provided.

A break at La Cueva de los Peces Cenote on the Zapata Peninsula allows for swimming. A typical Cuban lunch will follow.

Post-lunch, a visit to the Bernabé Garden will allow for birdwatching, where you might see species such as Zapata wrens, St. Thomas hens, crested grebes, hummingbirds, long-tailed hawks, Cuban parakeets, marsh goats, herons, flamingos, and cranes.

Your final stop is at a crocodile farm, observing these reptiles in their habitats.
