On this trip from Varadero, you'll visit the Ciénaga de Zapata National Park, the most important wetland in the insular Caribbean.

Description

At the scheduled time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Varadero for the trip to the Ciénaga de Zapata National Park. It offers an exploration of a significant ecosystem in Latin America.

After approximately 2 hours, we'll reach the largest wetland in the insular Caribbean. Here, we'll embark on a 2.5-kilometre hiking route to discover the diverse nature in this unique area, recognized as a Nature Reserve by UNESCO.

During the trip, we'll observe the native mangroves, essential for coastline protection and home to a variety of wildlife, including 258 species of birds, 43 types of reptiles, and 15 mammals. You'll learn about these fascinating creatures.

Next, we'll pause at La Cueva de los Peces Cenote on the Zapata Peninsula for a swim, followed by a typical Cuban lunch.

After lunch, we'll visit the Bernabé Garden to observe both native and migratory birds. You may spot species such as Zapata wrens, St. Thomas hens, crested grebes, and flamingos.

Our last stop will be a crocodile farm, where you'll see these reptiles in their natural habitats.

We'll conclude the trip after 11 hours, returning to the starting point.
