Cartagena Roman Theatre Museum Ticket
This ticket allows immersion into Carthago Nova's Roman past through archaeological pieces found in and around the Roman Theatre of Cartagena. The museum incorporates various ancient buildings, such as the Riquelme Palace and the church of Santa Maria. The visit begins in the Pascual Riquelme Palace, showcasing the discovery and excavation history via an underground corridor and a room displaying notable artifacts, including jewellery, statues, and vessels, along with significant pieces like the three aras dedicated to the Capitoline Triad.
You will then access a tunnel under the medieval church leading to the Roman Theatre of Cartagena, one of Spain's largest, featuring stages, the orchestra for patricians and rulers, and the cavea, where citizens of Carthago Nova sat by social class. This theatre had a capacity for 7000 people and saw use until the 2nd century. Archaeological excavations in the 90s and architect Rafael Moneo's design facilitate this tour of Cartagena's history.
