Description
We'll pick you up at your hotel in Cartagena de Indias and board a minibus to Santa Marta, a historic town in the department of Magdalena.
En route, we'll stop for breakfast in Cienaga for an egg arepa with a glass of orange juice or a coffee. After a 4 hour and 30 minute drive, we'll arrive at Santa Marta, known as the 'Pearl of America'. The first stop will be the Quinta San Pedro Alejandrino hacienda, where Simon Bolivar died. Next, we'll visit the statue of Pibe Valderrama.
We'll tour the Pescaito neighbourhood before heading to the bay of Santa Marta and Parque de los Novios park. A visit to Santa Marta includes the cathedral, the oldest in South America, followed by Plaza Bolivar Square and a walk through the colonial streets.
Our next stop is the Gold Museum in Casa de la Aduana, previously the Customs House during the colonial era. Here, you'll learn about the cultural heritage of Santa Marta and Cartagena. We'll then go to Rodadero to board a boat to Playa Blanca for a meal of fish, patacones, coconut rice, and salads.
Finally, we'll leave Santa Marta for Cartagena, stopping in Barranquilla to see the Caiman del Rio and the Window to the World before concluding our tour at your hotel after 13 hours of sightseeing.
