Tour of Cascais, Cabo da Roca & Boca do Inferno

Since the end of the 19th century, Cascais has been a destination for artists, kings, and aristocrats, known for its palaces, beaches, and scenic views. The tour starts at the train station in Cascais at 10 am, where participants will board a minibus to the first stop: the Santuario da Peninha.

This site features an 18th-century chapel and a palace from the early 20th century, situated on a hill with views of the coast and the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park.

Next, the tour proceeds to Cabo da Roca, cliffs about 459 feet (140 metres) high, recognized as the westernmost point of mainland Europe. Participants will have time for photos by the lighthouse, the third oldest in Portugal, before heading back to Cascais via the Cresmina Dune, where there's an opportunity for coffee and photos.

As the journey continues, views of Praia do Guincho beach, popular with surfers, can be enjoyed. The penultimate stop is at Boca do Inferno, located 5 minutes from the center of Cascais. Its name means 'the mouth of hell,' with local legends suggesting sounds from the underworld can be heard in the cave.

The tour concludes in the historical center of Cascais, where an hour-long tour of the town's streets and buildings takes place, before returning to the train station by around 3 pm.
