Tour of Cascais, Cabo da Roca & Boca do Inferno
Cascais has been a destination for artists and aristocrats since the end of the 19th century, offering palaces, beaches, and scenic views. The tour starts at the train station in Cascais at 10 am, where we will board a minibus to our first stop, the Santuario da Peninha, which consists of an 18th-century chapel and a 20th-century palace on a hill with views of the coast and the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park.
Next, we will visit Cabo da Roca, the most westerly point in mainland Europe, with cliffs standing 459 feet (140 meters) above the ocean. There will be time for photos by the lighthouse, the third oldest in Portugal, before heading back towards Cascais via the Cresmina Dune, where we’ll stop for coffee and photos.
As we travel, enjoy views of Praia do Guincho beach, popular with surfers. The penultimate stop is at Boca do Inferno, just 5 minutes from the center of Cascais, where the cave's name translates to 'the mouth of hell.' After this stop, we will return to the historical center of Cascais for about an hour, exploring the streets and buildings of this coastal town.
The tour concludes back at the train station around 3 pm.
